What you will be doing

As Manager HR Site Hoboken you will practice a matrix function within the HR organization, reporting to the HR Director WSE. 
In consultation with the BU and other Support Operational Functions on site and in the context of the HR framework, you will manage and lead the human resources strategy for the Hoboken site. Starting from the integrated HR strategy, you work closely together with the responsible managers of the HR centers and align with the other Belgian sites. As a member of the HR-WSE management team, you will also support Umicore's mission, vision and values and contribute to the accomplishment of business objectives starting from the integrated HR strategy.


Specifically, this will include:

  • Managing the Hoboken site HR Team of HR coaches and officers in order to translate the HR-vison to the workplace by guiding and assisting supervisors and managers in HR-related issues. Creating an optimal and efficient working environment for the team and stimulating the development of the desired competencies in order to deliver qualitive and timely support to the different BU/SOF’s in the site (in close cooperation with the HR centers).
  • Responsible for social dialogue at the site. Acting as management representative and/or chairman of the site's consultative bodies (Works Council, CPBW, trade union councils). Using influence in the local social dialogue to facilitate regional objectives.
  • Dealing with or mediating in collective disputes within the site and in sensitive individual disputes. Translating lessons learned into HR policies and practices.
  • Acting within the site as a change agent with respect to improvement of HR policies and processes starting from needs and objectives of the organization/service/site. Ensuring that site projects are in line with the general HR strategy and policies.
  • Responsible for the workforce planning in the site (succession planning, creating a long-term vision, setting priorities, growth/development, development needs, unemployment, ...) tailored to the needs of the units.
  • Actively maintaining a network of contacts within the industry and professional field and acts in this context as Umicore representative.
  • Ensuring clear communication with impact and persuasiveness regarding HR, decisions and applicable guidelines towards the personnel.
  • As a strategic HR partner being involved in organizational decisions and BU policy making with a focus on the human dimension.
  • As a member of the regional HR-Management Team being co-creator of the regional, integrated HR strategy and from there coordinating ad hoc cross-site projects.

Who we are looking for

Our success is based on individuals who are ready to make the most of their skills and prepared to tackle any challenges they face. As well as a Master Degree in relevant domain, you have a minimum 10 years of experience in HR management or equivalent by experience. You have abroad HR experience with special interest for employee/organizational development and employee relations. You have a sound knowledge of social legislation and collective labour agreements. You are able to establish good social relations with Unions.
You are fluent in Dutch and English. 
You have high levels of initiative and people service orientation, strong team spirit and good communication and influencing skills.
