About Cobalt & Specialty Materials

What you will be doing

The CSM & RBM Metals risk manager will focus on the effective paper metal hedging for our Business Units Cobalt & Specialty Materials (CSM) and Rechargeable Battery Materials (RBM). Further, the jobholder will ensure the analysis and reporting of the Umicore SA and the CSM Business Unit metal hedging results and closely monitors the financial risks of metal positions.

  • Perform metals hedging for the Business Units Cobalt & Specialty Materials (CSM) and Rechargeable Battery Materials (RBM)
  • Follow up Ni/CU/Zn positions on LME and the Co positions on the CME daily (for all relevant perimeters)
  • Assess potential risks and advise on actions to minimize risks
  • Monitor the market conditions and maintain the price tables in PRD IT metals
  • Enter hedging transactions with external brokers (paper metal contracts)
  • Report on the structure of the hedging books based on underlying commercial commitments and market opportunities (optimization)
  • Check external difference accounts and give instructions to Group Financial Services for payment or collection of funds.
  • Perform strategic hedges for certain entities and arrange for carry overs and difference account payments
  • Keep contact with the LME brokers on a regular basis to receive an up to date view on the metal market movements
  • Responsible for the controlling of our Business Unit Cobalt & Specialty Materials (CSM) Belgium

Who we are looking for

An enthusiastic colleague with:

  • A Master Degree in Finance / Business Administration / Commercial Sciences or equivalent through experience;
  • 2-4 years’ of experience in finance or business analysis;
  • Knowledge of ERP-systems, including SAP is a plus;
  • Knowledge of Metals and Forex hedging is plus;
  • A sound knowledge of English;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Open communications skills.
